MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK)'s fares this year (2025/26) will remain unchanged in accordance with the Fare Adjustment Mechanism (FAM), and it will continue to offer on-going fare concessions while freezing fares, according to MTR CORPORATION's announcement. These concessions benefit customers from all walks of life, including the elderly, children, eligible students and persons with disabilities, etc., which amounted to over $3.1 billion last year. Additionally, MTR CORPORATION will continue to offer various fare promotions to benefit commuters, including “City Saver” and the $0.5 interchange discount for all Green Minibus routes. The “Monthly Pass” and “Early Bird Discount” will also be extended for another year. Its fares are determined annually based on a direct-driven formula under the FAM, according to MTR CORPORATION. This formula adopts objective data to reflect Hong Kong's overall economic situation. Additionally, the “Affordability Cap” arrangement ensures that the actual fare adjustment rate does not exceed the change in the median monthly household income over the same period.
